Location: West of Tamiami Trail (where we get the name) and from Mound Street south to Stickney Point Road.
Old trees line the streets in this neighborhood west of Tamiami Trail, and the neighborhoods are named with such classics as Cherokee Park, Harbor Acres, Bay Point Park, and fun names like Bungalow Hill, Oyster Bay and The Landings. Oyster Bay and The Landings are a very desirable area. Very popular with doctors and attorneys for its relative proximity to the hospital and courthouse. West of Trail is close to terrific shopping, medical facilities, schools, parks, downtown, restaurants, and Sarasota Bay. Some new construction can be found here.
Besides a couple of condos such as The Landings, West of Trail is primarily single-family homes that range in the price of $150,000 for a mid-1940s home up to $9,000,000 waterfront houses. Inventory is very low in this neighborhood, and prices are high because of its popularity. It is a great place to live though. The location is where it's at.
